The choir together with its conductor took part in many festivals and has always been welcome by audience all over the world. So the “Ion Vidu” choir of Lugoj is famous in Romania and abroad many prizes and awards: Bulgaria (Varna, 1973), Switzerland (Montreux, 1997), Wales (Llangollen, 1999 – 3-rd prize), Greece (Preveza, 2000 – 2-nd prize and silver medal and Karditza, 1996 – 1-st prize).
The voices of the choir singers of Lugoj were heard in famous halls: Romanian Athenaeum in Bucharest, the Stravinski Auditorium in Montreux, the Radio House of Novi Sad, the gorgeous Cathedral of Mainz, the Opera House of Varna, and in Vatican under the sign of holy in the Church “Santa Maria in Trastevere”.
The choir has also some recordings, in Bucharest in 1984, 1985 with the Electrecord Recording House and with a Swiss Musical House in 1997, 1998, containing choir songs and Christmas Carols.
Many composers and musicologists spoke and wrote enthusiastically about the choir. Some composers dedicated some songs to it (Zeno Vancea, Tudor Jarda, Dan Voiculescu, Mircea Neagu, George Balint, Gheorghe Firca, Remus Georgescu, Walter Mihai Klepper). Some famous choir conductors spoke also enthusiastically about the choir’s success. In the year 2000 the choir was awarded the “Alexandru Paºcanu” diploma for the first time. The conductor Remus Taºcãu was also awarded “The Cultural Merit”. He is also an the vice-president of The National Choir Association in Romania. The conductor of the Madrigal Professional Choir in Bucharest, Marin Constantin highly appreciated the “Ion Vidu” Choir and its conductor, saying that they haven written an important page in the history of music in our country.
